Cali Burke, LPC-Associate

As a counselor, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals and families on their journey towards healing, growth, and empowerment. My name is Cali Burke, and I bring a wealth of experience and passion to my work in counseling, specializing in sports psychology, children’s anxiety and depression, ADHD, and women’s issues. From a young age, I witnessed my family navigate the complexities of mental health challenges, including alcoholism, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and other issues. These experiences ignited within me a profound desire to help others navigate similar struggles and find hope and healing in their lives.

My journey into counseling began with a profound realization: I wanted to be a source of support and guidance for individuals and families facing mental health challenges. This realization led me to pursue a career in counseling, where I could provide compassionate care and evidence-based interventions to those in need. I am deeply passionate about helping individuals overcome obstacles, build resilience, and thrive in all areas of their lives.

One of my primary areas of expertise is sports psychology, where I work with young athletes to help them unlock their full potential and overcome mental barriers to performance. As a former athlete myself, I understand the unique challenges that athletes face, both on and off the field. Whether it’s overcoming performance anxiety, building confidence, or managing stress, I provide athletes with the tools and support they need to succeed in their sport and in life.

In addition to my work in sports psychology, I specialize in working with children and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other mental health issues. I believe in taking a holistic approach to treatment, addressing the underlying factors contributing to a child’s emotional and behavioral challenges. By creating a safe and supportive environment, I help children and families explore their thoughts and feelings, develop coping skills, and build resilience in the face of adversity.

My approach to therapy is rooted in humanistic principles, which emphasize the importance of empathy, acceptance, and unconditional positive regard. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and change, and I work collaboratively with my clients to help them identify their strengths, set goals, and make meaningful progress towards their desired outcomes. I also integrate cognitive-behavioral techniques into my practice, which focus on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors that may be contributing to a client’s distress.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing the transformation that occurs when clients find the courage and strength to confront their fears, confront their past, and embrace their true selves. I have had the privilege of working with clients from all walks of life, each with their own unique struggles and triumphs. One client that stands out in my mind is a young woman who struggled with drug abuse, anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression. Through our work together, she was able to find her voice, reclaim her power, and embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery. It was truly inspiring to see her overcome obstacles and emerge stronger and more resilient than ever before.

In addition to my clinical work, I am also passionate about social justice and advocacy. I believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality mental health care, regardless of their background or circumstances. As a graduate of a social justice program, I am committed to advocating for those whose voices have been marginalized or silenced. I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where all individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered to seek help and support.

Outside of my work as a counselor, I am also an educator and coach at the high school level. This experience has provided me with a unique perspective on the challenges facing young people today, as well as valuable insights into the role of education in promoting mental health and well-being. Whether I am in the classroom or the counseling room, my goal is always the same: to empower individuals to reach their full potential and live their best lives.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and beloved puppy, Queeni. I am also an avid reader, with a passion for fantasy, historical fiction, and thrillers. Reading allows me to escape into other worlds, expand my horizons, and gain new insights into the human experience.

In conclusion, I am deeply passionate about helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges and find hope, healing, and resilience along the way. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or simply seeking support and guidance, I am here to help. Together, we can embark on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and transformation, one step at a time.
