Cassandra Shelton, LPC-Associate

Welcome to my corner of the therapeutic world. I’m Cassandra Shelton, but you can call me Cassie. Known for my empathetic nature and ability to provide a safe space for others, I’ve dedicated my life to helping individuals navigate the complexities of their emotions and experiences. My journey into counseling began after experiencing the transformative power of the client-counselor relationship firsthand. Witnessing how therapy positively influenced my own life ignited a passion within me to do the same for others. Over the past decade, I’ve immersed myself in various human service roles, honing my skills and nurturing my desire to make a difference in people’s lives. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership from A&M Commerce University, followed by a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, where I graduated in March of 2024. Throughout my academic journey and internship experiences, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse clients, each with their own unique concerns and needs.

One of my greatest passions lies in working with children over the age of 10, adolescents, and young adults. This pivotal stage of life is marked by profound developmental and neurological changes, making it essential to have a supportive guide to navigate the challenges. I specialize in helping clients better understand themselves, their relationships, and how past experiences shape their current emotions.

I have a particular affinity for working with neurodivergent individuals and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Creating a safe and inclusive space where every client feels seen, heard, and valued is paramount to my therapeutic approach.

In my practice, I adhere to a person-centered approach, recognizing that each client is the expert of their own life. I serve as a facilitator of growth and deeper self-understanding, tailoring treatment and interventions to meet the unique needs of every individual.

Outside of counseling, I’m a devoted mother, which provides me with a widened perspective on family dynamics and relationships. My personal experiences as a young adult and parent allow me to connect deeply with clients of all ages, fostering a sense of understanding and empathy.

When I’m not in the counseling room, you can find me spending quality time with my family, indulging in my love for music, staying active with workouts, and exploring my passion for baking and cooking. I also enjoy immersing myself in podcasts and audiobooks, constantly seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth.

My ultimate goal is to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel empowered to embark on their journey towards heightened mental wellness. Together, we’ll work collaboratively to uncover strengths, overcome challenges, and cultivate a sense of resilience and fulfillment in life. Welcome to a space where healing and growth are nurtured with compassion and authenticity.
