about us

Girls to Women Health and Wellness, P.A., is dedicated to the physical and emotional needs of adolescent and young adult women ages 10-25. This innovative health care practice offers quality multidisciplinary services to young women at a complex and crucial time in their development.

Board-certified pediatricians Dana Rubin-Remer, MD, FAAP, FSAM and Susan Sugerman, MD, MPH, FAAP, FSAM bring experience in adolescent medicine to this unique practice. Our teen-friendly office space and skill in handling sensitive issues create a comfortable, nurturing environment where young women can feel at ease discussing health matters important to them. While we honor confidentiality to the limits of state law, we strongly value supporting and strengthening parent-child, and especially mother-daughter, relationships; we make every effort to keep parents involved in all steps of their child's health care. In doing so, we join you in providing supportive relationships to give adolescents the confidence, information and tools to make positive lifestyle choices that will impact the rest of their lives.

We are happy to see patients on a consultation basis; if preferred, we can also assume responsibility for their ongoing primary care. Our goal is to work with these young women, their families, and other health care providers to make sure they get quality services, especially for complicated issues such as eating disorders and for medical gynecology needs.

Knowing that "it takes a village" to raise confident, healthy young women in today's challenging world, we feel blessed to have a team of highly qualified individuals equally committed this goal joining us in our offices. Our independent program affiliates include professionals in the fields of psychiatry, clinical psychology, educational psychology, social work, nutrition, massage therapy, yoga, and health education. We are especially proud to host Girls in Motion, a non-profit, mentor-based program pairing ten and eleven year-old girls with college women in curriculum-based activities aimed at improving self-esteem, confidence, and body image while enhancing physical fitness and promoting healthy eating behaviors.

Additionally, we are pleased to offer periodic and ongoing programming to our patients and to the community. Topics to be addressed include raising responsible adolescents, interpreting educational assessments, eating disorders, adolescent sexuality, dating violence, and social aggression in girls. Our physicians and program affiliates can speak on multiple topics; please let us know if you have particular needs that we can address for your community or practice setting.

To complement these participatory and educational programs, we offer classes in self-defense, CPR, babysitting certification, and yoga (mother-daughter yoga is highly encouraged!). While patients have priority for these classes, non-patients may enroll as space allows. Private classes can be scheduled by special arrangement.

We look forward to being available for you. Please feel free to call if you have any questions.

Most sincerely,

Dana Rubin-Remer, MD, FAAP, FSAM
